The houses went up one at a time — the Desk first, then the catalog, then each craft in its own walls. This house went up last on purpose.
A street reads differently once you can see who holds the deeds. Bumkus is that holder: the company that creates the work, keeps the intellectual property, and handles every license the houses issue. Building it last meant every house below it already had its door, its directory listing, and its own standing before the name above them all took its place.
The order matters for a second reason. Licensing is the one promise every house shares — licensed, never sold; terms in writing; the client's own material stays in the client's own accounts. That promise lives here, in one place, so it is made once and kept everywhere.
